Download the open-source Mobilemaps! (For license terms see the GNU GPL).

We're calling Mobilemaps a nearby engine but it has also been called a "local web search", a "location search engine", a "geovisual search", and a "map search". It offers the unique ability to find anything, such as Web page information, that is physically near a searcher's specified location, and present it on a map. It also offers new revenue from geo-targeted NearbyAds.

Frequently Asked Questions on how to run your own Mobilemaps can be found here.

Mobilemaps comes in three parts - a unique nearby engine packaged as "lbs", a geo-enabled Web spider/crawler packaged as "spider", and a helpful set of geographically located place-names packaged as "placenames".
